Home of the Tom Newby Tigers
Our purpose is to provide the pupils of Tom Newby School with the best possible academic, cultural, sporting and social conditions to ensure they develop to their maximum potential while in our care.
Based in Airfield, Benoni, our warm and homely school creates an environment where our pupils are nurtured to become life-long learners who develop into tomorrow’s leaders.
Our team of committed educators create an inspiring and caring environment where each child is encouraged and guided to be the best that they can be. We celebrate each child’s unique gifts and abilities, and our commitment to the social, academic, cultural and physical development of our learners has remained unwavering for seven decades.

- Our beautiful gardens and school grounds.
- We are technologically progressive. Our Grade 5 – 7 learners use tablets, and there are projectors in every classroom from Grade 1 – Grade 7.
- Your child’s safety is our top priority. We have strict access control with facial recognition.
- We are off grid and have solar panels installed at the school.
- In many instances, the third generation of a family is currently enrolled at Tom Newby School. This gives testimony to a proud history of excellence in service provision.
- We are one of the few schools that has implemented a Learn 2 Swim programme.
- Our accomplished Music Department boasts 2 choirs and 2 marimba bands.
- Our soccer and athletics stars fly the Tom Newby Tiger flag high!
School Times
Voyager Independent Pre-School Academy School:
Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 12:00 (Learners are to be collected by 13:00).
Friday: 07:00 to 12:30. (Learners are to be collected by 13:00)
An aftercare facility is available for our Pre-School learners. The aftercare times are from 13:00 – 17:30

07:30 to 13:45 Monday – Thursday
(Grade 1 – 3 finish at 12:45 on Fridays.)
